Spartanburg Reaches The Million
Published: 24th March 2006
The millionth car rolled off the production line at BMW’s Spartanburg plant in South Carolina, USA, on 28 February, 2006. The historically significant Interlagos Blue BMW Z4 M Roadster, with an Individual Champagne leather interior upholstery and Ash-Walnut wood trim, will be kept on display at the factory’s Zentrum visitor centre museum.
News of the production milestone comes 10 years after the first BMW roadsters were completed at Plant Spartanburg and 12 years since car production first started at the plant. In that time 3 Series, Z3 and Z4 roadsters, and X5 models have rolled off the lines with the latest Z4 and X5 models currently produced at Spartanburg. The recently announced Z4 Coupé will also be built exclusively at Plant Spartanburg.
