BMW Scoops More Awards
Published: 5th July 2005
BMW has scooped a clutch of awards to add to its burgeoning trophy cabinet. The BMW 535d has recently been crowned ‘Best Performance Car’ by Diesel Car magazine while the BMW 3 Series won ‘Best User Chooser Car’ in the industry renowned Fleet World Honours.
The judging panel at the Diesel Car awards found the 535d to be superior to the recently launched Jaguar S-Type 2.7d, with the panel of experts from Fleet World praising the 3 Series’ residual values, low maintenance costs, reliability and driver appeal.
News of the awards comes swiftly after the BMW M5 powerplant was named overall winner in the International Engine of the Year Awards 2005. BMW also achieved six category wins in the IEOTY 2005 awards (the only manufacturer to have achieved such a tally in a single year) and takes its total haul in the awards to an unmatched 26.
