Following the successful introduction of the BMW 330Cd Coupe and the BMW 320Cd Convertible, BMW is pleased to announce that its award-winning 3.0-litre diesel engine is now available in the 3 Series Convertible.
The BMW 330Cd Convertible heralds a new age in motoring by blending the benefits of open-top motoring with BMW’s six-cylinder turbo-charged diesel engine that offers excellent performance and economy in equal measure. The 2,993cc powerplant produces 204bhp and offers a maximum of 410Nm of torque from an almost idling 1,500rpm for instant throttle response. The diesel-powered four-seater combines the benefits of the engine’s performance allied to the standard six-speed manual gearbox to full effect, accelerating from zero to 62mph in 7.8 seconds before going on to a top speed of 145mph.
The latest engine to be offered in the 3 Series Convertible line-up is also EU4 emissions compliant and produces just 187g/km. Fuel consumption is parsimonious too with 40.4mpg recorded on the combined cycle.
Two levels of standard equipment are available from launch - SE and Sport. All SE models come with a fully automatic roof, four airbags, Dynamic Stability Control, electric seat adjustment, central locking with comfort entry, air-conditioning, leather sports steering wheel and 17-inch alloy wheels. In addition to this extensive list, Sport models receive 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, lowered Sports suspension, M aerodynamic body styling, Sports seats, black aluminium cube interior trim and M kick plates. Prices for the BMW 330Cd SE Convertible start at £33,035 rising to £35,000 for a Sport with the first customers receiving their cars in May.Published 10 March 2005
