The New BMW 3-Series Line-Up (2015)

BMW 3-Series (2015)

BMW 3-Series (2015)

The revised BMW 3-Series range for 2015 has been revealed with a number of tweaks and modifications to the range – in both saloon and touring (estate) formats. There is a new three cylinder petrol engine, and a hybrid joining the range.

The new BMW 3-Series will be going on sale in July 2015 with full specifications and prices to be confirmed and we will of course publish these as soon as we have them.

The 3-Series has been with us for forty years been introduced in 1975 and since then has gone on to sell 14 million models worldwide. It now features ever tougher competition with the introduction of the Jaguar XE and the forthcoming Audi A4, not to mention the Mercedes C-Class.

So it is time for a new engine line-up, which will bring fuel savings and lower CO2 emissions, the entry level BMW 318i will feature the same three-cylinder petrol engine as the new-ish MINI. It develops 136 hp / 220 Nm – 52.3-54.3 MPG and emissions as low as 122 g/km. The petrol line-up continues with the 320i, 330i, 340i and then there are diesels - 316d (111 g/km), 318d, 320d, 320d ED, 330d and the top of the range and rather potent 335d with a 0-62 mph time of 4.8 seconds.

There is the option of a six-speed manual transmission or eight-speed Steptronic unit  which are standard on the BMW 330d, BMW 335d and BMW 340i Touring models.

All BMW’s now feature satellite navigation as standard (dependent on when they were built, so check when making a purchasing decision). You can upgrade to a new Professional system (standard on the M3) the benefit being better performance, graphics, learned mapping, wireless map updates (free the 3 years) via the on-board SIM card, it will also support 4G LTE connections for enhanced connectivity.

All 3-Series come with Intelligent Emergency Call which if the airbags fire will automatically call for assistance via BMW’s Call Centre – you can manually operate this should you need emergency (999 worthy) assistance.

You opt for Head-Up Display and Parking Assistant – which will auto park the car into both perpendicular and parallel spaces.  There will be the option of full LED headlights, but all cars see revision to the LED daytime running lights and indicators – LED taillights are standard.
