The BMW 3 Series Named Best Compact Executive Car and Best Convertible

The BMW 3 Series Saloon
The BMW 3 Series Saloon and Convertible have scooped two high profile awards from the UK's biggest selling weekly motoring magazine.
A panel of motoring experts from Auto Express assessed the latest vehicles on sale in the UK and crowned the BMW 3 Series Saloon 'Best Compact Executive Car' while the BMW 3 Series Convertible was awarded 'Best Convertible'.
The Auto Express road test team said of the BMW 3 Series Saloon: "BMW's superior dynamics won the day. A model range that includes everything from a diesel variant capable of 62.8mpg to the supercar-chasing 414bhp M3 is unbeatable."
The BMW 3 Series Convertible received equally high praise with the team commenting: "The standard 3 Series is famed for its sharp handling rear-wheel-drive chassis and the Convertible is no different. It leaves the competition trailing with its agility, grip and balance, while the engine range includes BMW's potent petrol and diesel units."
In addition to scooping two outright wins BMW Group products were also commended in six other categories. The BMW Z4, 3 Series Coupe, 5 Series Saloon, 7 Series, X6 and MINI JCW hatch all received special praise. News of the awards comes after the BMW 3 Series had been crowned Best Fleet Car 2009 by Fleet World and the BMW 318d awarded top Executive Car in the What Car? Green Car Awards 2009.
