UK Pricing Announced For New Audi A8 4.0 TDI Quattro

Britain's first ever V8 TDI luxury saloon available to order now for delivery from September 2003 onwards

Britain's first ever V8 diesel luxury saloon - the new Audi A8 4.0 TDI quattro - is now available to order in the UK for an OTR price of £57,560.

Featuring common rail fuel injection technology and two intercooled turbo chargers, the new compact engine combines 275PS with an exceptional 650Nm of torque – the highest output produced by any Audi model available today.

Helped by a class-leading power-to-weight ratio of 144PS per tonne, achieved despite the added weight of the unique-in-class quattro four-wheel-drive system, the new Audi A8 4.0 TDI quattro is capable of dispatching the 0-62mph sprint in just 6.7 seconds, and where permitted reaching a maximum speed electronically limited to 155mph.

Its fuel consumption figures are the only real clues to its preference for diesel, a 20 per cent improvement over the 4.2 quattro petrol model meaning that up to 29.4mpg is achievable on the combined cycle. As a result, over 580 miles can be covered on a single tank of fuel.

Standard equipment for all petrol and TDI models includes 18-inch alloy wheels, full leather upholstery, six-speed tiptronic transmission, adaptive air suspension, acoustic parking, cruise control and the Multi Media Interface (MMI) control system.
