Abt Audis Bid For Honours In Britain
Published: 19th July 2003
For the first time in its history, Abt Sportsline defends the DTM title this year after Frenchman Laurent Aiello captured the prestigious "crown" in an Audi TT-R.
Abt’s squad of Aiello, Christian Abt, Mattias Ekström, Martin Tomczyk, Karl Wendlinger and Peter Terting form a formidable line-up for the annual British event.
The spectacular Audi’s are powered by a four-litre, V8 engine producing over 450bhp. In last year’s corresponding Donington race, Christian Abt came through from the back of the grid to finish second.
Aiello remarked: "I’m really excited about driving
in England again. Although I became the 1999 champion there I won
neither of the races at Donington - perhaps I can make up this weekend.
In 1999, I had an unbelievable number of UK fans and I’m looking
forward to seeing them again."
