The impressive blend of driver appeal, luxury, advanced technology and class-leading space already available to Audi A6 customers is enriched this week as the new Avant estate version of the widely acclaimed sporting executive opens for order with OTR prices ranging from £26,505 to £46,265. First UK deliveries will start in spring 2004.

The new Audi A6 Avant is available initially with a choice of four V6 engines (2.4 and 3.2 petrol, 2.7 and 3.0 TDI) and a 4.2-litre V8 petrol for top models. The range not only offers the unique-in-class safety benefit of quattro four-wheel-drive for selected models, but also the option of adaptive four-wheel air suspension for optimum load weight compensation and ride comfort across the range.

The impressively spacious and meticulously finished, 1.05 metre-wide load area offers up to 1,660 litres of capacity and features numerous useful detail enhancements. A two-tier load floor with a foldable and multi-position lockable top level prevents loads from sliding in transit, and a wipe clean plastic tray built into the level below it is perfect for stowing muddy boots etc. An entirely new cargo securing system featuring two rails recessed into the floor combined with four sliding, adjustable and lockable lashing eyes helps to keep items of all sizes rooted to the spot. It can also be combined with a cycle rack developed specially for the A6 Avant, which is attached to the floor-mounted rails for secure carriage of up to two bikes.

In common with the A6 Saloon range, the 14 new A6 Avant models available from launch are offered in either comfort-oriented SE or more overtly sporting S line trim. Both options include standard features such as the Multi Media Interface (MMI) Basic Plus control system, cruise control, a 10-speaker CD system, full climate control and automatic light and wiper activation. Highlights of the S line specification include 18-inch 5-arm alloy wheels, part leather-upholstered sports seats, S line sports suspension and an upgraded braking system for selected models.
