The Alfa MiTo is now available with the 85hp TwinAir engine priced from £14,150

On the face of it a two-cylinder 875cc petrol engine does not sound that promising, but the 85hp TwinAir engine has won a multitude of awards. The twin-cylinder turbo engine produces 85hp at 5,500 rpm and delivers 145Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm.

As the maximum torque is available from 2,000 rpm and is constant up to 3,500 rpm – between 10% and 25% more torque when compared to the 105 and 78hp petrol engines in the current range. This equates to a 0-62 mph time of 12.5 seconds and a top speed of 108 mph.

Whilst on the official combined fuel cycle you can expect 67.3 mpg (perhaps not in the real world) and CO2 emissions are recorded at 98 g/km, which is great news if you wish to commuter into inner London, as you are exempt from the congestion charge.

The Alfa MiTo TwinAir is available in two trim levels – ‘Sprint’ and ‘Distinctive’ – priced at £14,150 and £15,350 respectively.

The MiTo Sprint trim level includes 16-inch sports alloy wheels, cruise control, front fog lights, manual climate control, Alfa D.N.A. (driving mode selector) and Alfa’s Blue&Me™ system with Bluetooth hands-free connectivity and USB media system.

The MiTo Distinctive adds 17-inch sports alloy wheels, red painted Brembo brake calipers, rear parking sensors and chrome/aluminum detailing.

Currently until the 30th September 2012 the Alfa MiTo comes with a five-year warranty instead of the standard three-year unlimited mileage warranty. Which like all car warranties is subject to terms and conditions.
